House; Baldr

Power; Regeneration

Personality; When the Doctor first appears, it is right after regeneration. As with all regenerations, there were a few kinks to be ironed out—in this case, the Doctor was violent, melodramatic, confused, and (more or less) rational by turns. In a few cases, during his violent moods, he even went so far as to attack his companion (Perpugilliam, or Peri, Brown) as well as another Time Lord, and he didn’t always remember doing it after.

But as all such things do, the sickness passed quickly enough and he stabilized into someone much easier to deal with, not that that’s saying much. He was still arrogant, brash, abrasive, boastful, and all in all something of an acquired taste.

But as time went on, however, he started to mellow somewhat. When he first regenerated it seemed that he could barely stand his companion, and even after he got over that he only seemed to keep her around so she could admire his brilliance. It wasn’t until some episodes after his introduction that he seemed to care for anyone but himself—he notes that he was always ‘especially fond’ of a former companion of his, Jamie McCrimmon. Even after that it’s kind of difficult to tell how much he really likes Peri, but when the Time Lords later trick him into thinking she’s dead, his grief is genuine. As is his joy and relief when he’s told that it isn’t true, and that she’s living her own life now.

After an insanely complicated attempt by the Time Lords to frame him for mistakes they made, and a few timeline-bending adventures, the Doctor returned one of his future companions to her own time, and decided to travel on his own for a time—or at least he tried. But truth be told, he just can’t stand being alone. One of his (comics and audios only) companions even got him to admit it at one point—a shapeshifter (known as a Whifferdill that enjoyed spending his time as a penguin) named Frobisher. The Doctor ended up confessing that he was lonely at one point, when Frobisher was trying to make it on his own as a gumshoe. I’m not entirely sure that’s happened to any other companion, but this version of the Doctor definitely likes having people about. Despite the fact that he’ll grumble a bit about what some of his companions put him through (carrot juice and exercise bikes, Mel) he seems to be willing to put up with a lot to keep them around.

One of his favorite companions, Evelyn Smythe, was more of an accidental companion—at least at first. When he first found her, he was mostly concerned with saving her life because she was in danger of being erased from history. She persuaded him to keep her in the TARDIS, after that all got sorted out, and let her see history first-hand. He agreed, partially because she offered to make him her special cake and partially (again) because he was lonely. He travelled with her for quite some time, though it’s always hard to tell exactly how long it is with him, and she really did a lot to finish mellowing him out. Oh, he was still arrogant and bossy and not the easiest person to get along with, but she managed to get him to be more polite, or at least more considerate of other’s feelings, even if he didn’t always act that way.

Samples;

Network Sample; [When the video starts, Six’s face is set in a determined, almost angry expression. As soon as Six notices it’s recording, however, it changes immediately into something a lot more genial and vague. It’s mostly focused on his face, but if anyone’s familiar with the famous outfit, you’ll recognize the multicolored collar of the rainbow monstrosity his wonderfully fashionable coat.]

Oh! Hello there. I’m afraid I’m having a bit of trouble with this blasted device, newfangled… whatever it is, I imagine. [He’s probably lying, but he’s not about to tell what he was really up to.] Now then! Could someone tell me a bit more about what this place really is? [Because there’s no way he believes this really is some kind of Godly abode, or that idiotic little ‘guide’ he found when he was first poking around this thing.] And… mmm. I don’t suppose… is there someone here named Evelyn? She may be going by Doctor Smythe… older lady, fond of cardigans and chocolate. I’d… really appreciate it if someone was able to tell me of her whereabouts. We seem to have become inadvertently separated. [He couldn’t have been pulled here without her, he just… he refuses to even think that he might have.

There’s one more matter he wants to address… and his expression regains some of the sternness it had when he first appeared, though he doesn’t mean for that to happen.]
I’d also like to know what happened to my TARDIS. Blue box, fairly large, can’t miss it. Anyone who can tell me anything about it… please do. [And… that seems to be it, as he ends the video almost immediately.]

Log Sample; If there was one thing that bothered the Doctor about being in this… Asgard place, it was what it had done to his physical makeup. Well, there were several things beside that, really. The fact that Evelyn was nowhere to be found (and he just hoped she was still back on Világ, and safe… for the time being, anyway), and that his TARDIS was also missing were the other big ones. And then there was the city itself. He didn’t like how grey and drab everything was. Cities were meant to be vibrant, full of life and color! He could definitely see why they’d brought him here. If anyone could sort this mess out, it was definitely him.

At least this flower garden wasn’t grey, even if it reminded him of Peri and Evelyn in different, not entirely painful (or painless, for that matter) ways. But he was trying not to dwell on that, really. It was pointless; Peri was with Yrcanos, and even if he missed her he wasn’t about to mar her happiness in any way. And Evelyn was… well, she’d been a bit cross with him when he’d last seen her, but it was nothing that couldn’t be fixed. They just needed a little, well… time. And to talk about things, though between Evelyn not being here and her apparently not wanting to talk to him in the first place, that was going to be a bit tricky.

But he shouldn’t be thinking about that now, he needed to find a way to get back to her! He was the Doctor, wasn’t he? He just had to… fix whatever was wrong with this place, then they’d pop him back where he came from, neat as you please. Or if they refused, he just had to find a way to get back. There had to be a way, there was always a way. He just had to figure out what it was, which admittedly might take him some time, but he had plenty of that. Time Lord, after all. All the time in the universe, especially when his TARDIS wasn’t about.

He glanced down at the flowers he was passing by. They looked vaguely like tulips, but he didn’t actually recognize them. That was quite a feat, really; they must be from a place he’d never been before. “Mmm, I wonder what Peri would make of them.” He bent over slightly to smell them, curious. “Interesting…” Not particularly useful, but interesting all the same. There really did seem to be flowers from absolutely everywhere in this garden. Well, he’d just have to have a wander, then, and see what he could find.
